This extraordinarily rare pheasant is the imperial pheasant. From its discover in 1923, it was thought to be a separate subspecies until 1990 when it was discovered it was really a naturally occurring hybrid between the Vietnamese Pheasant and the Silver pheasant which is too bad, because this bird is beautiful.
